Training and Consultancy Services to SMEs and PFIs

Client Support Services Department announces the forthcoming training and consultancy services (in 2008) to SBCorp direct borrower-entrepreneurs, and participating financial institutions (PFIs).

SBCorp Client Support Services and Center for Small Entrepreneurs (CSE) will conduct a dialogue with borrower-entrepreneurs of SBCorp, who participated in the December 2007 1st Enterprise Enhancement Training Workshop (EETW).*One highlight of the dialogue will be the introduction of Enterprise Mentoring Service Program to capacitate small entrepreneurs to move up to a higher level of operation, competitiveness and sustainability. Two of the 17 who participated in the December workshop will be chosen to receive the mentoring service. Minimal fee will be charged to the chosen firms that will receive a four-month consultancy and mentoring services. This program is a bilateral cooperation between InWent, and International Capacity Building Institution of Germany, and SBCorp |

The 3rd Enterprise Enhancement Training Workshop (EETW)*, at the Center for Small Entrepreneurs, Asian Social Institute Compound, 1518 Leon Guinto St., Malate, City of Manila
*EETW is a 3-day session on business planning for expansion and
growth of the business enterprise. The training workshop is conducted and facilitated by experience trainer-facilitators of CSE, a 10-year training institute on business entrepreneurship with focus on small entrepreneurs. This event is supported by InWent and International Capacity Building Institution of Germany in cooperation with SBCorp. Participation fee is P 750.00 per participant. Fee covers snacks, lunch and training materials |
June 11-13 |
The 5th Seminar Workshop on Risk-based Lending to SMEs or BRR Seminar Workshop. (This uses the Borrower Risk Rating System developed by SBCorp in lending to SMEs). In Tacloban City. This is a 3-day session among credit officers, risk officers, executives, and owners of rural, thrift, commercial, and expanded commercial banks that wish to take on risk-based lending ( as distinguish from granting credit based on collateral of the borrower) to SMEs. The seminar workshop will share SBCorp’s credit technology in rating the risk in lending to SMEs. The training is conducted and facilitated by experienced consultant-trainer-facilitators of Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany, under a bilateral cooperation between SBCorp and KfW, a German development bank under the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany. One-day Conference on SME Credit and Financing, and Support System. In Makati City. And launching of a movement that advocates lending to SMES based on their Borrower Risk Rating (BRR). Mr. Jaoaud Berrada, a consultant and expert on risk management and SME credit will deliver the highlight presentation on Risk-based Lending to SMEs. Mr. Berrada was the consultant assigned in 2006 to SBCorp by Asian Development Bank to guide SBCorp in establishing a Risk-based lending approach to SMEs |

The 1st Seminar Workshop on Risk-based Lending to SMEs (BRR). In Naga City. This was participated in by 34 credit officers, risk managers, owners, and executives of rural, thrift banks in Bicol provinces such as: Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, and Masbate. This was a successful cooperation by SBCorp and the Federations, and Confederation of Bicol Rural Bankers. Mr. Fidel Cu, Chairman of the Golden 7 Bank, and the Chairman-President of the Confederation was instrumental in ensuring the very good number of participants among his colleagues. The venue was also held in a newly opened Avenue Plaza Hotel, a five-star rated hotel in Naga City. It is also owned and managed by the enterprises of Mr. Fidel Cu |
